Research on Taurine in Protecting Vision and Relieving Visual Fatigue

Taurine is considered an essential nutrient for ensuring the function and survival of retinal photoreceptors, RGCs, and RPE cells. The depletion of taurine exacerbates the susceptibility of the retina to light exposure damage, and also increases glial cell proliferation and oxidative stress in the retina, damaging the normal phagocytic ability of RPE.

By supplementing taurine, various stress injuries and excitotoxicity on the retina can be reduced, providing multiple neuroprotections and improving the normal function and morphology of damaged RPE, RGC, and photoreceptors, thereby protecting vision and relieving visual fatigue.
